Utah RISE Challenge
Youth leading the way toward resilient, thriving Utah communities.
The Utah RISE Challenge invites 6th–12th grade students to identify a real resilience issue in their community—like wildfire risk, air quality, water conservation, mental health, or extreme heat—and then design and carry out a project that makes a meaningful difference. Along the way, students build skills in research, collaboration, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship.
RISE isn’t just a class assignment. It’s a chance for young people to see themselves as leaders, problem-solvers, and contributors to the wellbeing of their community.
Here’s how it works:

01
Assemble & investigate
Form a team of 6th–12th graders and explore a real resilience issue in your community—from wildfires and earthquakes to air quality, flooding, or mental health challenges.
02
Plan your project
Brainstorm a solution that educates, prepares, or protects your community. Craft a project idea that responds to what you learned.

03
Take action
USEE provides funding and support to help you bring your idea to life. Build, teach, create, connect—whatever your project calls for.
04
Share & celebrate
Capture your work in a short action video and submit it for the chance to be recognized, celebrated, and awarded at the RISE Summit.
