Program Information & Dates

Note that programs run from 10-11am

Saturday, March 20: Illuminating Our Greenways & Waterways with Seven Canyons Trust (virtual program)

The Wasatch Range offers more than just spectacular scenery. From these majestic mountains, seven waterways flow into the Jordan River, including: City Creek, Red Butte Creek, Emigration Creek, Parleys Creek, Mill Creek, Big Cottonwood Creek, and Little Cottonwood Creek. Each of these waterways provide homes to native flora and fauna and places for people to recreate. Learn more about these natural wonders and how you can play in and protect these wild places right in your community.

Saturday, May 1: The City Nature Challenge: How you can join the global effort to find nature with the Natural History Museum of Utah (virtual program)

Every spring, cities around the globe come together to find and photograph nature. Northern Utah is participating as The Wasatch, and from April 30-May 5, we need YOUR help finding local nature! The CNC is great for you: it's a fun way to get outside, learn about local wild species, and find some global community in these socially distant times. It's also great for science: your photos will showcase the amazing species we have here in Utah, helping scientists better understand biodiversity. Learn more about why the 2021 City Nature Challenge is so important, and how you can take part (spoiler...it is easy, and fun for all ages!) from Natural History Museum of Utah Citizen Science Coordinator (and resident CNC nerd), Ellen Eiriksson.

Saturday, May 22: Look, Breathe, Repeat: Finding Your Bliss Outdoors with Susan Snyder (in-person program at the Tracy Aviary Jordan River Nature Center, 1125 W 3300 S, South Salt Lake, UT 84119)

Join teacher-naturalist and artist Susan Snyder to learn about the rejuvenating effect of being present in nature. We’ll explore the ways people can slow down to experience the natural world around them, and we’ll practice with some fun, family-friendly activities. All participants will receive materials to make their own nature journal!

This event is limited to 15 registrants and will take place outdoors at Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center. Participants will be required to wear masks while participating in the workshop.
